With fuel-efficient options, driver-assistance systems, and smartphone connectivity, the 2019 Kia Optima is an excellent addition to your driveway.

What to Expect in the 2019 Optima

Kia Drive Wise

When you’re behind the wheel, having an extra set of eyes on the road around you is beneficial to keeping you and your passengers safe. Kia Drive Wise is designed to notify you of possible accidents and even intervene if necessary.

The new Optima comes standard with a host of Kia Drive Wise features, including:

  • Blind Spot Collision Warning (BCW)
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW)
  • Forward Collision Avoidance-Assist (FCA)
  • Park Distance Warning-Reverse (PDW-R)
  • Lane Change Assist (LCA)
  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assistance with Pedestrian Detection (FCA-Ped)
  • Lane Keeping Assist-Line (LKA-L)

The Kia Optima comes in 4 available trims — LX, S, EX, and SX — each with an engine and transmission to meet your performance needs. Crave peppy acceleration or fuel-sipping efficiency? There’s a powertrain to match.

For example, on the EX trim, a 1.6L Turbocharged engine sits under the hood and pairs with a 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) to deliver an impressive 37 mpg on the highway. The EX also features Motor Driven Power Steering (MDPS) to ensure smooth, quick response when you turn the wheel.

Seeking a more exhilarating ride? The SX trim is outfitted with a 2.0L Turbo engine that pumps out 245 hp and 260 lb.-ft. of torque and is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and Sportmatic® Sports Shifter. The steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters provide simple control over the gear changes while letting you keep your hands on the wheel.

Innovative Features

Each trim of the Kia Optima is equipped with an 8” touchscreen display on the center stack, so you can easily navigate features and more with the tap of your finger. You can even listen to your favorite tunes, receive directions, and answer texts on the touchscreen thanks to standard Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ support.

New to the 2019 Optima is the addition of UVO link. This subscription service delivers an enhanced telematics suite and connects to an app on your smartphone, so you can stay apprised of the sedan’s status and control certain features. Not sure if you locked the car after walking to the office? Open the app on your smartphone to remotely lock or unlock the vehicle. You can also pre-heat or cool the car to make the interior meet your comfort level.
