The 2020 Kia Optima Plug-in Hybrid represents the fourth iteration of Kia’s ability to provide drivers with a vehicle that delivers a ride that’s as efficient as it is refined.
Highlights of the 2020 Optima Plug-In Hybrid
The Optima Plug-in Hybrid features a standard 2.0L Gasoline-Direct Injection engine that’s capable of providing drivers up to an impressive 202 horsepower. As an added bonus, this engine is as fuel-efficient as it is powerful, with the capability of providing drivers with up to 40 mpg. The car’s high-density lithium polymer battery carries a full EV range of up to 28 miles, ensuring that you can stay eco-friendly on short commutes.
The battery can be fully recharged in about 3 hours when plugged into a 240-volt source, or about 9 hours when plugged when into a 120-volt source. As an added measure of efficiency, the Optima features regenerative braking technology to return power to the battery when you brake.
Whether you’re talking about the suite of available safety technology, or the structure of the vehicle itself, it’s clear that the 2020 Kia Optima was designed with safety as a priority. This model is built with a patented Iso-structure which is 53% high-strength steel to provide a body that’s stronger, yet lighter. This is further bolstered by the inclusion of specific crumple zones for added protection.
Also available with the new Optima are a litany of safety technologies, including:
- Blind-spot collision warning
- Forward-collision avoidance assistance with automatic braking
- High-beam assist with automatic dimming
- Rear cross-traffic collision warning
- Smart cruise control with automatic Stop-and-Go
